Cebu X 2008 Launching in Cebu on July 12
Cebu X in 2005 opened the question: "Where will you go?". A year after, Cebu X Answered. Offering the Philippines not just a destination for business and leisure but "The Island of Treasures". Cebu X 2007, highlighted the unique Filipino ingenuity in finding art in every ordinary everyday things. For a Filipino artist, "Everything inspires."
This year Cebu X continues the upbeat. Cebu X 2008:
Excite 2008 is all about having a renewed, optimistic spirit. The drive to look forward. To get excited again in the creation of new things. It reflects a dynamic interest in the creative process and an enlivened response from the market. The red and white color scheme is both about being trendy and being bold. Three elements shape our design soul
Dispersed in 7,107 islands, we speak 171 languages and dialects, each with its own word for "beauty" and "strength". Yet both ideals we communicate and understand as one.
Of orchids and butterflies, we have 1000 varieties each. Our archipelago shelters nearly every coral, sea horse, and sea turtle species known to man. Yet we are home to 51 of the 62 active volcanoes in Southeast Asia, so we walk along our Eden with the sense that all beauty is ephemeral. Our appreciation never wanes.
Inspired night and day by a setting that is once providentially diverse and fragile, Philippine designers have become prolific. We are creating furniture that embodies a unique kind of cool—the integration of indigenous materials, abundant in the environment, with the technology and techniques of modern manufacturing.
