Interior home décor Philippines
The Cebu X looks back a long tradition of excellence and experience.
Some 1,500 international buyers with the number of exhibitors and
buyers constantly increasing year after year usually visit the show.
You'll find manufacturers from Bacolod, Davao, Pampanga and even
Manila. Some companies from Manila prefer to showcase their products
in Cebu rather than in their own show in Manila since Cebu has the
reputation of attracting more foreign buyers. In the near future,
the present venue, the International Convention Center in the
Waterfront Cebu City Hotel, won't be able to accomodate all of them
and we are already scouting for solutions for the coming years.
Cebu has occupied a niche in the international market, creating a
look that distinctly tells the experienced buyer that the furniture
is made in Cebu. Some features of this look are high quality,
innovative designs and especially the use of mixed media.
Cebu craftsmen are known for their ability to fuse stone, wood,
iron, and various indigenous materials usually referred to as weeds
and reeds into graceful pieces of furniture. Even after three and a
half years in the country, I am still sometimes surprised by the
creativity that you can find here. At the show, you see the whole
range of styles: heavily carved classical furniture with perfect
finishes, light and modern designs inspired by Europe but performed
in indigenous materials of the islands, and accessories that make
you wish to have more space in the house.
The classical items and antique reproductions are basically for the
American buyers. The American market is still leading the top 10
list of the Cebu furniture industry but Japan and Europe are coming
closer. But for them, the design has to be different: contemporary,
light and with smaller dimensions.
